Diet Pills

Have you ever noticed, the different kinds of diet pills there are? We see so many on television, thinking wow that can actually happen to me if I take a diet pill. They are just trying to get the consumers to buy, buy, buy the entire product and it will not even work half the time. We see on the commercials the before and after shots of the person but how do we not know that they are not digitally enhanced photos done to stun there audience. I think the hydroxycut ad is very effective for women. The way they advertise this pill, even makes me wonder if it is possible to the extent of I might want to take it. Once at the gym, I saw one of the trainers had this diet pill and asked if it really did work and they said, “Yes of course but not for me to take it”. Like what is that suppose to mean. I am guessing that only bigger people who are actually trying to lose weight should take it. However, does this actually beat just regular diet and exercise? Personally, if a person just wants to lose weight that should be all there is to it. Why rely on some pill that can have effects on your body or that will not even work?

Diet and exercise should just be enough for people who are trying to lose weight; if they put enough effort into that instead of some pill they can acquire the results they want. Who actually knows if these different diet pills that are constantly being advertised on television work? The advertisers are simply trying to get your money by taking the easy way out. There is never going to be an easy way out in life, we all need to work hard to get where we want to be.

From Myspace, to Face book, to Twitter ...

Have you noticed how everyone, who is anybody is on MySpace? I go to school, people are on MySpace, when I am at work I constantly here the little kids talking about being on it and who is who’s friend, and I also here about it when I am home, whether it is on the news or not. When people ask if I have a MySpace, they are surprised that I do not have one. They go “really” in amazement. It never really caught my attention even if all of my friends had one does not mean necessarily that I need to have one to be in the loop. Fact is, if you notice, there is a lot of drama because of MySpace. People start fights through there and also couples break up because of the rumors that he might be talking to someone else. Why even be on MySpace, if you know you are going to end up having endless problems because of it? I guess people just like the attention or excitement that it brings to their lives.

Now to top it all off, we have face book. I was making my 26-year-old sister an account today and I asked her why was this so important and she said because everyone has one. Is she saying that just because we see what other people do, it is okay to copy? Monkey see monkey do. She does not even know why she wants it, if it had not been for her co-worker, she would not have got one. I just told her it is the same thing as MySpace. Like she said “No there is a difference”. It happens to be that Face book is supposedly more sophisticated, different age group. Everybody is going to not care and end up on there.

As time passes, there are going to be more new internet virtual chat rooms for people to talk on like the newest one today “Twitter”. They made such a big deal of this that it even came out on the news about Ashton Kutcher having one million friends on there. This is even affecting the news, it is basically taking over the world.

Legalization of Drugs

This dispute on whether or not drugs should be illegal or not has been going on since they were first introduced. I have noticed that this war on drugs, we will never win. People have there perspectives on them, some may be that taking them does harm to your body and others that it helps you relieve stress. If instead of trying to stop all the use of drugs, why not just legalize them? The drug prohibition era has not stopped people from trying these illegal substances. By controlling them we can assign the right amount of dosage for people. We will know what gets sold and how much gets taken in by the consumer. By looking at the different parts in Europe that have legalized drugs, they have coffee shops that sell a perfect amount of drugs to people and crime rate is down. If they can legalize drugs and have a great outcome on it, should it not just be a perfect model for us to take example from?

Legalization of all drugs would definitely help our economy out; it will create jobs for millions. Then we would not have such a bad economy.

People are never going to stop doing drugs and embedding this into our minds does not acquire world peace or stop all the crime relating to this issue. We cannot even keep drugs out of the jails, what is the difference between that and the streets? The people should be the ones to decide whether or not to legalize drugs. We managed to get thru the prohibition on alcohol; we can manage to do the same with drugs at hand. The legality of all drugs would soon enough be the only conclusion we would all agree upon in the coming years and then maybe we can help prevent drug overdoses or crime.

Last Night

All my life I have been told to eat right and exercise. Eating fruits, vegetables, and basically non-fat foods is the best way to go in order to be healthy. Also, having or being physically active helps along the way. With all this in mind, we would not have bad skin, have health issues, or even gain weight. However, why is it that with all this in mind, we still eat like horrible pigs and are not in the best physical shape? We eat a lot of candy, chips, soda, and the list goes on. We know what we are doing to ourselves but we keep at it. Is there a reasonable explanation for it? Not really because I do not even realize I am doing it until someone points it out to me. Like right now, I just finished drinking a can of soda and eating some sour cream and onion ruffles and I feel great and satisfied. I am not worrying about it. Not right now at least.

Maybe in the back of our heads we know that we should not but it will not stop us. It is probably like the little voice in our heads that does not get the best of us. We are all surrounded by it and do not think too much of the consequences until it actually happens. When do we know when to stop? How are we supposed to know? Why even stop? The answer is we just do not. We only worry about it when we see commercials or magazines and notice the pictures of the people we try to look like and that is when we take a look at ourselves. But we should not have to worry about it so much, we are just being ourselves and if eating makes us happy, then why not eat what we want and not pay so much attention to it. I guess that is just how much take the media plays in our lives and sometimes, we let it get to us but we should be able to control how far it goes in our lives.

The Aftertaste of Restaurants

Olive Garden, Friday’s, Chili’s, Claim Jumper, Lucille’s BBQ House, Black Angus, Applebee’s, Bj’s, The Cheesecake Factory, The Elephant Bar, Red Lobster, The Soup Plantation, The Islands, are all many of the greatest restaurants we have always gone to. They all are pretty expensive but yet the food there is unforgettable; it just makes us want to go back twice. But why do we? We are all willing to take our chances and eat there but we do not even know why. We know that we get our money’s worth but is it really. Most of the time, we get great customer service but what about the other times? Or what happens if the food is not so great from what we expect it to be just because of how it looks. We all are taking a pretty big chance when going to these restaurants and just because we might get recommended to go there does not mean we all have the same taste. Have you ever noticed how the restaurant may be lonely at times but yet the hostess makes us wait? What is up with that, if there are free tables why not just sit us down; it only makes us less hungry to have to sit and wait some more to eat. Even when we are waiting they always try to offer us some appetizers or drinks. For example, I went to the Olive Garden the other day and they had us waiting for seats for about an hour. While we were waiting the bartender was mixing drinks and everyone was buying something to drink. It is like they do this on purpose. Do they just want us to wait? Do they just want us to spend our money first to see if we are good enough to eat?

If you really think about it, it really is not that worth it to go out and eat. It may seem great because of the food, but if you think about it look at everything else you are putting up with. But yet we always go back.

Sex Sells

If you were to turn on the television, what would be the first thing you see? Basically commercials, we always see what is the next big thing or what we should be eating, or what we should look like. Even if we tell ourselves “we don’t look at the ads” or “they don’t affect us”, how are we suppose to know, it has been around all our lives that we do not realize it contributes to our every moves. Advertisement sells with things that appeal to us; we take it very serious.

For instance, ads inform us mainly on foods. Fast food restaurants like Carl’s Junior uses sex to sell. On every commercial they either have very attractive women or men eating there hamburgers trying to make us see that hot and skinny people eat fast foods so we should too. They even had Paris Hilton washing a car while eating a superstar, how influential is that? If you think about it, if she was on an ad for salads and the commercial was telling the audience “Look at me after eating all them salads”. What would the audience start doing after seeing that? Exactly, people would all start diets and think that that would be Paris Hilton’s secret of slimming down. It is the same effect with the superstar; we see her eating it or her not worrying about gaining weight so we too do not even worry about eating it either. We all think if they can do it then we can do it too.

Sex sells and it really does matter how and what you look like when appearing to the public. These things just end up being very popular to the people. But how many commercials or ads do you ever see where an attractive person is eating organic foods? Or fruits? The list goes on but you rarely ever see a hot person advertising those types of foods; it is not that common.
